Earlayne Chance began drawing as a child and has been painting for over thirty years...and it shows!
Earlayne's mature work has reached a level of creativity in design and coloration, both of which appear effortless. Her work has achieved the look of the true professional tht she is. Capable in many subjects, landscapes are recognized as her forte, even though her wildlife paintings have found a national publishing market. Earlayne's primary medium is oil, but she is also expert in both pastel and watercolor.
Chance was fortunate to be able to begin her art career in Europe, where her military father was stationed. This afforded her the opportunities to visit major museums and libraries of Europe while beginning her formal studies at the age of sixteen. After taking a few years off for college, marriage and beginning a family, Earlayne began seriously focusing on her art again in 1978. Even her early attempts at painting found a ready market. As a teacher for over 25 years in Austin, she maintained a year's waiting list for her classes.
Earlayne's own studies have included working with nationally known artists, who took an interest in her work and directed her progress to the exceptional level we see today. Expressionistic and vibrant, Earlayne's work has a distinctive, romantic mood about it, making her work easily recognizable.
Earlayne begins her paintings from field studies and slides before returning t the studio to create the final products. Over the past several years, Earlayne has been selected for inclusion in important juried exhibitions across the country, while corporate clients began adding her works to their collections. Her work is found in galleries across the southwest, and Earlayne is listed in several prominent biographical reference sources, including the 2002 edition of "Marquis' Who's Who in America".
