Fran Rowe

Fran Rowe paints what “she” sees. She fills her canvases with epic landscapes - desert rock formations, light-rich forests that spill over and across rugged mountains, the still waters of a lake or a river flowing to parts unknown. Yet, more than the majesty of her settings, it is her realistic attention to the nuances of nature that characterizes her work.

Beyond landscapes, Fran concentrates her work on still life’s and other focused studies of the world she sees around her like the Texas wildflowers she does in an almost abstract yet very realistic technique.

One of the competitions that Fran enjoys very much, especially the preparation for and then doing the paintings, is the Arts for the Parks competition that is sponsored by the National Parks Academy of the Arts. Her favorite park is the Big Bend National Park of Texas but she certainly enjoys traveling to the other beautiful parks as well, like the Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.

In 2007 , Fran won top honor in the national Oil Painter's of America competition.
