Heidi Couchman is relatively new to the art world. Though her mother was a vocalist/soprano who encouraged her daughter in piano and voice, Heidi’s talents were not in music. She always loved art and was active as a young adult in drama at the Hill Country Arts Foundation in Kerrville. She loved charcoal class in high school, but she didn’t start her formal art training until about seven years ago when she moved to Salado and joined the Salado Village Artists. Encouraged by the group, she has taken numerous workshops and explored many painting mediums including watercolor, pen, ink, porcelain, acrylic, pastels and oils. Heidi feels art is the best therapy. It is relaxing and calming for the artist to create and it has the same affect again on the viewer.
Heidi has had exhibits at the Cultural Activities Center, Sorge’s Restaurant, Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, The Smith Art Gallery and Salado Village Artist Market in addition to Griffith Fine Art Gallery.
