Linda Jaynes-Spangler

Linda Jaynes-Spangler has been painting over 40 hears.  She started painting when she was managing an art and craft shop in Albuquerque, NM.  She studied under several oil painting teachers and began teaching in her shop.  While in the shop, she became interested in many other art mediums.  This interest in other art mediums has continued through out her life.  Other mediums include stained glass, throwing pottery, china painting, quilting, and making soap.

In the early 90's Linda and her brother, Glenn Lyles, began studying oil painting with western artist, Jack Sorenson.  This experience has had a great influence in the development of her style of painting and her love of color and contrast.  Linda's brother started doing art shows with her helping him.  She decided she could do art shows also, but did not want to compete with her brother in oil painting.  This was when she turned to the pastel medium.  After her very first attempt and self taught method in pastels, she was hooked.  She began applying for juried art shows in which she won many ribbons and recognitions over the years, as well as selling many paintings.  Juried Art Shows included shows in Albuquerque, NM, Ruidoso, NM, Kerrville, Tx., Lubbock, Tx, and Shreveport, La.

Linda's art career has been blended with a very full time career.  Linda has been an administrator in the government offices of appraisal districts for 28 years.  Linda's life also included being a single mom, which has rewarded her with four wonderful granddaughters.  In 2002,she met and married Bob, her life partner.  With the marriage, she gained two sons and three grandsons. Life is full and wonderful, which is the perfect combination for creating art.
