Vacie Anna Berry

Vacie Anna Berry learned to appreciate the animals and environment of the rugged country where she grew up, wild and free in the isolated borderlands of Texas and Mexico. In a family tradition, she started drawing, self-taught, at the age of two and was challenged to capture the beauty around her. Vacie began selling her work by age 15 and was doing portraits of her friends’ horses as well as Future Farmers of America livestock.

At the age of 35, “after growing up with my two sons”, as Vacie puts it, she decided to attend Rocky Mountain College of Fine Art in Denver, Colorado. After graduation, she studied at the Art Students League in New York. She has also maintained a studio in Grants Pass, Oregon since 1988.  She teaches, works on commissioned pieces, and enters her work in National shows.
“I prefer the beauty of nature and working realistically. I approach my work with praise and thanksgiving to my creator and hope I can bring to my viewer the beauty of the world around us.”

Vacie Anna Berry has received many awards over the years. She enjoys the discipline of the academically classic approach and continues to produce works in drawing, painting and sculpture.
